Abstract
The origin of safflower is Middle East, and nowadays is a very famous plant in India and from the Mediterrenan basin to Japan. Now it's mainly grown to obtain oil but at domestic gardens is been a common plant to colour food as a cheap substitute of saffron.
The main color for this plant is grown is a wonderful pink that is not quite lasting. It also provides reds and yellows. It was one of these plants used by women as lips make up 
Description
It need warm temperatures to germinate, far from freezes, and if sown in May it can flower in July. Wait the flowers to decay and then you can harvest them, letting the seeds to form.
